Churches from several different faiths gathered in Stamford to celebrate the LGBTQ community.

The Pride and Joy in the Park Festival was held Sunday.

Organizers say the celebration was pertinent this year because of the abundance of hate speech.

They say a lot of members of the LBGTQ community feel less safe than they did last year, so the gathering is meant to make them feel more welcome.
