A program aimed at combating youth violence kicked off in Stamford Wednesday.Deborah Sewell and Shalida Johnson, who run the pilot-program, say the recent wave of violence in the area reinforces the need for such a program. They stopped on street corners to discuss their program, which offers tutoring, job training and lessons on life skills to young men between the ages of 16 and 21. An information session about the program will be held on Monday, February 27at 6 p.m. at the Yerwood Center.
