Red Cross helps Bridgeport family displaced by fire
The Mid-Fairfield County chapter of the American Red Cross has stepped in to help a family of 17 after a fire that broke out Wednesday night.
Twelve adults and five children escaped the fire, which gutted the back of the house on Marion Street.
American Red Cross volunteers immediately found the family members temporary shelter. The Red Cross was able to place 14 family members in local hotels. The others stayed with other family members.
Food and clothing were also provided to the family.
Fire officials have not released details of their investigation.
