Report: Sacred Heart University students face charges
Some Sacred Heart University students are facing misdemeanor charges because of an error by city police officers and state officials, according to a report in the Connecticut Post.
More than 80 students received tickets for allegedly using fake identification cards at the Golden Star Cafe in Bridgeport in April.
According to the newspaper, court records show that the students all paid their $200 fines, but officers cited them for an infraction that no longer exists, and clerks changed the charge to a misdemeanor.
The Bridgeport police chief reportedly says he will work with prosecutors to solve the mix-up.
According to the newspaper, the students are due in court in August.
