Road Trip Close to Home: Cliffs at Gowanus

Cliffs at Gowanus, a new rock-climbing utopia, has just opened up this month in Brooklyn for athletic enthusiasts.
At 40,000 square feet, it has walls to climb in every direction you look and reaches all the way up to 45-foot ceilings. There are hundreds of different paths to take.
Mike Wolferd, founder and CEO of the Cliffs, started with one location in 2005. The Gowanus location will be the sixth center to open under Wolferd.
There is also a full gym and yoga room for those who prefer other exercise methods.
Safety is covered, with ropes for the tallest walls and padding at the base to make sure every landing is gentle.
Cliffs at Gowanus is the largest climbing location in all of New York City and offers something for every skill level of climbing.
The center's fourth-floor deck also provides great views of the city for before or after your climb.
