The former Sacred Heart University student accused of making up rape allegations against two football players has been denied Accelerated Rehabilitation.
The case will now head to trial.
Nikki Yovino appeared in Bridgeport Superior Court on Friday.
Yovino was charged with falsely reporting an incident and tampering with or fabricating the physical evidence.
Her attorney, Mark Sherman, tells News 12 Connecticut that despite the decision his client remains optimistic.
"She's disappointed at the decision but she's working, she's staying positive and she's prepared to fight this case for as long as it takes," says Sherman.
The case has been continued to Nov. 14 for pre-trial discussion.
