Students and faculty at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield will come together this evening for a Mass dedicated to a student killed after an accident.
Kaitlyn Doorhy was struck by a car Friday afternoon as she crossed a street in Bridgeport near campus.
Investigators say the driver swerved to avoid hitting Doorhy's friend, but struck Doorhy. The 20-year-old died Saturday morning.
Doorhy was getting ready to start her junior year at Sacred Heart.
The university is offering counseling services to students and staff. The university's president says they will also hold a memorial Mass for Doorhy this week, but the details have not been released.
Doorhy's funeral is scheduled for Friday in her hometown on Long Island.
