Several students will not be attending their prom due to their dress choice.

Shelton High School officials say six students will not be allowed at the school's prom Saturday after reviewing their dress purchases.

School officials say an announcement was made last week stating that dresses that were backless, showed midriff or had cutouts on the side would be considered inappropriate, and that those students would not be allowed at prom.

Students were invited to submit photos of their dresses to a committee that decided if the dress was appropriate or not.
