Stratford officials say the last phase of a $2 million school renovation will begin this week.
Franklin Elementary School, which was built more than a century ago, will be painted.
Officials say the school was so rundown a few years ago, some people wanted to close it.
They say the renovations, which also include the removal of lead paint and asbestos, are needed to bring the building up to code.
