A group of local biologists, scientists and conservationists has come together to study the plants and wildlife in the Bronx River.
Workers from the Department of Environmental Conservation used electric waves to bring fish to the surface to see how many different kinds of animals live in the river.
Teams of scientists are also studying plants native to the river.
This is the first time that different environmental groups have teamed up to gather, monitor, collect and conduct research as one unit.
The findings from the study are expected to be completed sometime in the fall.
