Sen Richard Blumenthal recognized the Marine Corps veterans of Fairfield County at their headquarters in Ridgefield.
The group is known for their nonprofit Toys for Tots program, which is their flagship charity event.
The senator says members like Robert Montgomery, who was awarded the Navy Cross, typify the great traditions that put the Marine Corps first.
“These veterans go beyond the call.  They care for people. They provide Toys for Tots, they serve this community and the entire state of Connecticut, so I'm very proud to honor them."
The Toys for Tots program works with the Building Hope Foundation to bring holiday happiness to thousands of kids across the region.
