Attorney General Richard Blumenthal continued his fight Monday against a proposed liquefied natural gas facility in the Long Island Sound.

Blumenthal met with the president of Shell Oil and urged him to stop the project. Shell and the energy company TransCanada are partners in the Broadwater project. Blumenthal says the Shell president listened, but did not back down from his desire to move the project forward.

Blumenthal and many others have expressed concerns about the project?s environmental and security issues. He expects a decision from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission on the environmental impact statement within a month. Blumenthal says he is ready to appeal an approval of the project.
