(AP)- A Shelton man who had faced terrorism charges after claiming to have a bomb in a bank last summer has been freed from prison after serving seven months.
Fifty-four-year-old Thomas Mahoney who walked into a Webster Bank and claimed to have a bomb has been released from prison after being sentenced to time served.
Mahoney pleaded guilty to first-degree threatening for the July 23, 2007 incident.
Police say that at the time, Mahoney walked into the bank with a blue backpack and told an employee that he had a bomb. The bank was evacuated. Mahoney did not demand money.
It turned out to be a false alarm, as there was no bomb in the bag.
