(04/03/06) STAMFORD ? Firefighters battled intense flames during a six-alarm fire at the Stamford Antique Center on Canal and Pacific streets Monday.
Fire officials say about 15 people were inside the building at the start of the fire, but they all made it out safely. There is no word on any injuries as a result of the incident. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Witnesses say the fire moved quickly and engulfed the entire building in 10 minutes. Due to pressure problems, firefighters had to draft water from the Long Island Sound to battle the flames. Although the fire is under control, firefighters will likely stay on the scene for much of the night to make sure the embers are completely out.
