Cities across Connecticut have snow emergencies in effect for today's storm.
Snow emergencies are now in place in Bridgeport, Milford, Norwalk Stamford and Greenwich.
Officials tell residents to stay home if possible. They also urge residents to move their cars off of emergency snow routes and alternate side parking routes.
Residents who fail to move their cars properly will get towed and fined $130.
Snow emergency parking lots are open at all schools in Bridgeport. In Stamford, free parking is available in city garages.
City officials also reminded residents to plow their sidewalks and help first responders by clearing the area near fire hydrants.
Norwalk says the city started pretreating roads this morning before the snow starts. The Yankee Doodle and Maritime Garages are open for free overnight parking.
City garbage and recycling pickup will go on as planned. However, COVID-19 testing at Veteran's Park and Norwalk Community College may close early.
Residents are also urged to have an emergency supply kit in case they lose power and to charge their devices.
