Some people are growing concerned over what they say is a dramatic rise in illegal Russian immigrants working as strippers in southwestern Connecticut.
Alex Meyerovich, an immigration lawyer, says an increase in Russian strippers in southwestern Connecticut can be attributed to financial depression in their own country.
Lana Klichko, 24, has a bachelor's degree in public relations, but says her only recourse was stripping after her visa expired.
Meyerovich says that many here illegally have nothing to return to in their native Russia but cannot work legally in the United States.
He says he is lobbying for a merit-based immigration policy that would allow immigrants to work in the United States legally and have the right to travel to their home countries unrestricted.
