A mom-and-pop pharmacy that serves the area is doing its part to help seniors get vaccinated against COVID-19.
Seniors over 65 have been excited to get their shots at Grassy Sprain Pharmacy, the owner says.
"When people are being vaccinated, some of them are crying because they're so happy that they're being vaccinated. Sometimes they'll show up with their daughter or their son," says pharmacy owner Anthony Ciarletta.
The pharmacy has been around for 70 years. It received its first shipment of doses just four days ago.
It's now vaccinating up to 70 people a day at each of its locations. And it hasn't been faced with the long lines or canceled appointments that some other vaccination sites have.
"What we've been doing is instead of making appointments before we have the vaccine, we wait until we have the vaccine, then make the appointment," Ciarletta says.
Grassy Sprain Pharmacy is part of the Westchester Pharmacy Group.
