Some Milford residents say they’re concerned about the town's charm and are hoping officials will reconsider greenlighting a downtown project.
A mixed-use development of shops and dozens of apartments is in the works for the downtown area, with neighbors arguing it will change the character of the area. They say they fear vehicles will flood downtown.
"As a taxpaying resident, it is sad to me that we may not be able to come down and have a picnic on the green," says Laura Marqus, of Residents Against Overdevelopment.
Marqus says she believes developers such as Metro Star are calling the shots instead of citizens.

The planning and zoning board virtually reviewed the application Monday night. Metro Star presented plans it maintains will provide sufficient parking.
The topic was ultimately tabled. A zoning official says all regulations regarding disclosure were followed.
"In situations, the public can chime in. It is as if they don't want us to and they don't want to allow us to, and that leads to terrible resentment," says Marqus.
Opponents also worry about the same company's plans to buy property on Tudor Road to build apartments there too.
The mayor was not available for comment.
