Millions of federal dollars are headed toward southwestern Connecticut communities who suffered damage from Superstorm Sandy.
Gov. Dannel Malloy said Tuesday that $31 million is being allocated for housing, public facilities and infrastructure along the Connecticut coastline.
At Gulf Beach, more than $500,000 in federal dollars will build a new breakwater to keep it from washing away. The breakwater is just one of the many restorative projects that will receive aid.
The governor added that over $1 million in aid will go to two restoration projects in Milford.
Officials say that the money will also be used to prevent future storms from doing more serious damage.
A nearly $800,000 revetment project will prevent further erosion of properties along Morningside Drive in Milford.
About 20 additional restorative and preventative projects along the Connecticut coast have also been approved.
