(06/23/06) FAIRFIELD ? Municipalities and residents throughout southwestern Connecticut are getting ready for potential flooding amid predicted summer showers.
If the weather predictions hold true, areas could be drenched with heavy rains this weekend. Many residents and municipal workers say they don?t want a repeat of severe flooding that took place in the spring. Fairfield First Selectman Ken Flatto is urging residents to clear their yards of any debris that may get blown around and clog up storm drains.
The Fairfield Department of Public Works has already started clearing out storm drains in anticipation of the rain. It will also have extra workers available as the weekend goes on.
