There is speculation about Bridgeport's future Wednesday after Mayor John Fabrizi confessed to drug use. Fabrizi's confession is the most recent political scandal in Bridgeport. Fabrizi took over the city's top office when former Mayor Joe Ganim was convicted on corruption charges in 2003. Earlier this year, former state Senator Ernie Newton went to prison for accepting bribes. Ward Thrasher, the assistant dean of the University of Bridgeport School of Business, says the city currently has a credibility problem in the business world. Thrasher says the announcement won't affect current projects, but may influence those companies who were considering investing in Bridgeport. Paul Timpanelli, with the Greater Bridgeport Regional Business Council, says he's confident the city will come back as it has in the past.
