Stamford Government Center was closed to the public today after a transformer fire in an underground vault forced an evacuation yesterday.
All public meetings scheduled were canceled. Employees were still expected to show up for work, however.
Authorities moved essential city departments to other buildings, except for the 911 Center, which stayed open and was powered by an emergency generator.
Officials say all evening meetings have been canceled or rescheduled.
Connecticut Light and Power restored power and the center is expected to be open tomorrow.
