? Connecticut Democrats held their convention in Hartford Saturday where they voted Stamford Mayor Dan Malloy should take on Governor Jodi Rell (R-CT).
Malloy won 799-795 over favored New Haven Mayor John DeStefano. Delegates from about 169 cities cast ballots, some even switched votes. Malloy said his campaign pulled off a miracle, considering the state attorney?s office recently cleared the mayor of alleged wrongdoing. Officials were investigating whether city contractors received preferential treatment for working on Malloy?s home.
DeStefano plans to challenge Malloy for the Democratic endorsement in the August 8 primary.
