Stamford mayor to tout energy-saving techniques
Stamford?s mayor is hitting the road this weekend to talk about how his city is leading the way in climate protection.
Mayor Dan Malloy will be in Utah for a summit next week along with hundreds of mayors from across the country. The summit will address how metropolitan areas can increase the quality of the environment.
Malloy says Stamford?s recycling program is an example of how the city is becoming an environment-friendly city. The recycling center is powered by solar panels.
Other measures to save energy include energy-efficient lighting downtown and a special filter at a skating rink. Malloy says the school buildings in Stamford use cleaner burning heating and cooling systems. The mayor says the changes help the city save millions of dollars.
