A local defense attorney believes there will be no jail time in the drug case involving Stamford Mayor Dan Malloy's son.

Nineteen-year-old Ben Malloy was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana, cocaine and drug paraphernalia on Wednesday. He is out on $2,500 bond and is due in court next Wednesday.

Defense attorney Michael Fitzpatrick, who represented convicted killer Michael Ross, says he believes there will definitely be a plea bargain in the case and that Malloy will not face any time behind bars.

In a copyrighted story in Friday's Stamford Advocate, police say Malloy is a known drug dealer and that he sold drugs both on the Stamford High School campus and from the mayor's home.

Greenwich narcotics detectives, along with Stamford police, arrested Malloy and four juveniles on Wednesday when they pulled over a Ford Taurus in the Springdale section of Stamford. Police say they found 34 bags of marijuana and $500 cash. The search continued at the Malloy family home, where police allegedly found a small amount of cocaine and drug paraphernalia.
