Stamford officials seek new food truck regulations
Food trucks have skyrocketed in popularity, but Stamford city officials say vendors are not following proper guidelines.
Stamford officials say that they are thinking of new rules to regulate the dozens of food trucks doing business in the city.
They say they want food truck operators to clean up after their customers, regulate the amount of people in their lines and park their vehicles in designated areas
The Stamford Downtown Special Services District says if the rules are implemented, they plan to focus on cleaning, safety and competition.
Non-mobile restaurants are also asking city officials to enforce a distance requirement between their businesses and food trucks.
The city currently allows food trucks to park in any legal locales, regardless of their proximities to restaurants.
