Stamford police are looking for men and women interested in joining the force.
Some officers were at St. Mary's Church in Stamford on Monday to recruit. The stop is one of many on their tour.
The Stamford Police Department keeps a list of potential recruits, and every two years they have to purge the list and come up with a new one.
To get on the list, recruits must pass a test that will be given next month.
In addition to job fairs and community events, the department is printing up fliers and posting on social media with a simple message: don't miss your chance.
Capt. Elizabeth Erickson says there's a good chance that several new officers will be hired. She says the department anticipates at least 20 officers will retire over the next two years, so they are hoping to fill the void with new recruits that reflect the diverse and growing community.
