Police in Stamford are urging motorcyclists to be smart out on the roads following two serious accidents involving motorcycles.
Police say the two incidents happened over the past two days, prompting concern. Both motorcyclists were critically hurt in the accidents.
"Both are in critical condition and both are going to sustain some life-altering injuries," says Sgt. Andrew Gallagher, of the Stamford Police Department.
Trip Thunhorst, president of the High Ridge Driving School, says motorcycles can pose unique problems for drivers. He says if a motorcycle gets too close to a car, the driver of the car may not be able to see the motorcycle.
Police say both accidents involved motorcycles colliding with cars. Police say with the warmer weather they are seeing more motorcycles on the road, and in some cases the riders are not wearing the proper safety gear and are driving recklessly.
Police encourage motorcycle riders to wear a helmet, long sleeves and pants when riding.
