The Stamford Public Education Foundation is making sure kids are prepared for kindergarten with Summer Start, a readiness program held by the foundation at Stillmeadow Elementary School.
This year, the six-week program has 76 upcoming kindergarteners who did not attend pre-K.
Students learn everything from the alphabet to how to stand quietly in a line.
The goal is to make sure kids are as prepared as possible for their first day.
Matthew Quinones, of the Stamford Public Education Foundation, said, “The program allows us to be able to work with them on a lot of soft skills, getting them familiar with routines, so that when they show up for day one they are ready to go.”
The program kicked off last year with 33 students.
