Stamford residents on lookout for coyotes
Some Stamford residents on Arden Road are warning others about coyotes in the area.
Danny Karwoski says he grabbed his camera when his wife told him about a coyote in his yard. According to Karwoski, the animals are becoming a common presence in his neighborhood, between Long Ridge and High Ridge roads.
So far, town officials say no one has been hurt by coyotes. However, animal control officers in other towns say several small dogs have been attacked and some have been killed by coyotes.
Animal experts say coyotes are hunters and they will try to find prey. However, they say the prey they look for is usually small, such as a squirrel, rabbit or small dog or cat.
Neighbors and animal experts are warning residents to keep a close eye on their younger children and small pets when they play outside. Experts say if someone does spot a coyote, the best thing to do is to let it be.
