Stamford-based Americares has its hands full as the organization works to help survivors of two hurricanes.
Americares helps with 30 natural disasters annually, but its focus has been on hurricanes as it continues to work with Florence survivors, and now begins work with those affected by Michael.
Sen. Richard Blumenthal joined Americares' CEO to bring light to their relief efforts in the Florida Panhandle.
The group is providing medicine and health care items to survivors of the hurricane.
But the process has not been easy. Americares says it has been difficult to access everyone affected due to fallen debris and other communications issues.
The nonprofit also highlighted its response team. It says its members are putting themselves in harm's way to make a difference.
Americares is 95 percent funded from private donations.
