Fresh off their second FCIAC championship in the last three years, the Wreckers have their sites on the big win.
Head coach Marce Petroccio and Staples took on Ridgefield in the first game of the Class LL state playoffs on Tuesday night.
John Heil completed a touchdown run to take Staples up 7-0 early in the first quarter.
The scoring continued with some great plays courtesy of quarterback Jack Massie and James Frusciante.
Massie threw a 43 yard touchdown pass to Frusciante with a minute left in the opening quarter.
Staples now moves on to the state semifinals with a 48-21 win over Ridgefield.
