10h agoA woman was struck and killed by a car while changing a tire along Route 8 North in Thomaston, police say.
The incident happened Wednesday on Route 8 North near exit 39 around 3:30 p.m.
Police say 26 year old Karina Lopez of Torrington got a flat tire and attempted to repair the damaged wheel in the left lane of the busy highway.
As Lopez attempted to fix the tire, she was struck by a car.
Police say the driver of the car remained on scene and was not injured.
Lopez was flown to Hartford Hospital, where she later died.
