A state attorney determined the 2014 death of an attorney was not a homicide.
Abe Dabela was found dead in his overturned vehicle off of Redding Road with a gunshot wound to his head over three years ago.
Investigators ruled the death as a suicide just hours after the incident, despite disagreements from family and friends.
State Attorney Stephen J. Sedensky's statement ruled out homicide saying, " [Dabela] was traveling to his home in Redding when his car overturned and the subsequent discharge of a firearm resulted in his death."
Family members uphold that there is more to the story and say they will proceed with a lawsuit against the town and officers involved in the case.
An attorney with the NAACP says he plans to reach out to higher legal authorities to further investigate the case.
"There's a gunshot to the back of the head," said Darnell Crosland. "It doesn't make any sense."
An attorney for Dabela's family says they were outraged by the decision and feel the conclusion does not support the facts.
