Statue stolen from Beardsley Park playground
Bridgeport police said today they're investigating the disappearance of an angel statue from the city's first playground for kids with and without special needs.
Police Chief AJ Perez says he was horrified to learn a stone angel had apparently been stolen from Aaron's Journey, the new playground in Beardsley Park inspired by the memory of 9-year-old AJ Richardson, a special-needs child who passed away in 2008.
Richardson's mom Isabell says when her husband went to check on the playground this morning, he noticed the angel was missing.
Richardson says it feels like she's lost her angel for the second time. She is urging anyone with infomation about the theft to call Bridgeport police.
