Downed trees and power lines from Thursday night’s storm forced some people to wake up without power.
Nearwater Lane in Darien was closed for several hours as crews worked to restore power to homes in the area.
Downed trees made a mess of Stafford Road as well.
A tree also came crashing down on a SUV at the Bullshead Shopping Center on High Ridge Road.  No one was inside.
James Grunberger is the property manager and also the co-founder of the East Side Partnership, a non-profit mentor program.
He says the group goes all over the east side with teenagers, and they pick up any tree limbs that fall during a normal storm.
"We've taken kids who are a little bit lost in high school and turn them into accountants and PAs and police officers,” says Grunberger.  “That little bit of support goes a long way with a teenager."
