Health Department: Bronx sees increase of rat complaint calls
The city Health Department says it is seeing an increase in complaints of rats in the Bronx.
They say overall, New Yorkers have made 8,335 rodent complaints to the city's 311 hotline so far this year.
In the Bronx, over 1,900 calls were made to the city's 311 hotline so far this year.
The Health Department says rodent complaints are on the rise in all five boroughs.
Coming in first place for the most complaints is Brooklyn, second place is Manhattan with over 2,000 complaints, followed by the Bronx with 1,900 and Queens with 1,300 complaints.
The Health Department released a statement saying, "We attribute the rise in rodent complaints to the launch of the new 311 mobile app, launched in February 2014. There were 863 rodent complaints via the mobile app in 2015, and 1,816 rodent complaints via the mobile app in 2016."
