The 44th Precinct Community Council sponsored the 161st Street Food Festival on Friday.
The festival took place between the Grand Concourse and Walton Avenue. Food vendors serving a variety of different cuisines lined the block near Joyce Kilmer Park.
Vendors say this was the perfect place to get their food in front of people who aren't their typical customers.
Bronx resident Mamie Rhodes says it was the perfect kickoff to the weekend.
Event organizers say if the event is successful, there will likely be another one soon.
