Best of the Bronx: 'Paper House of Furniture'
An 88-year-old Bronx woman used paper, scissors and an abundance of patience to build a miniature version of her dream home.
Hughes' "Paper House of Furniture" exhibit took almost a year to complete, she says.
It's now on display at the Allerton Library.
Each piece of the house is made from paper.
Hughes says the piece is meant to inspire children to take ideas and turn them into reality.
"The reason I did it is because the children are so absorbed with things they can hold in their hands or see on the websites," she says. "I wanted them to get away from things like that and use their imagination."
The exhibit will be on display until July 1.
