P.S. 1 puts on concert to promote the arts
The Bronx Arts Ensemble and P.S. 1 students joined forces Thursday for the seventh-straight year to put on a concert for children in pre-K through fifth grade.
The concerts actually happen twice a year, and are part of the school principal's vision to encourage students to get involved in the arts at a young age.
Principal Jorge Perdoma conducts the ensemble himself during the events.
He says that arts education increases students' morale and helps shape their future personalities.
This year's performance was dedicated to Lydia Soto, a fifth-grader who died in January.
