Weather, oil prices lead to more Bronx road repairs
Favorable summer weather and low oil prices are allowing crews to repave more Bronx roads than anticipated, according to the mayor's office.
Drivers say the rapid repaving is greatly appreciated, especially among those who need to drive to work.
Crews tackled parts of Olinville Avenue, Bronx Park East, Steenwick Avenue, Bivona Street and East 233rd Street.
According to the mayor's office, the original plan was for 1,200 lane miles of roadway to be repaved prior to June 30. They are extending that amount by 65 lane miles.
