One program in some city classrooms is hoping to educate Bronx children in nutrition and living healthier lifestyles.
P.S. 71 is one of the schools participating in the "Seed to Plate" program, which focuses on getting the Bronx's youth healthy.
Seed to Plate is a 10-part program that focuses on sustainable farming, cooking and nutrition. It even includes field trips to farms and visits by chefs. In addition, nearly every lesson comes with a tasting of something delicious and healthy from the local farmer's market.
Councilman Jimmy Vacca, who's secured the $24,000 in funding for this, hopes to expand the program next year.
