Nonprofit group the Visiting Nurse Service of New York has created a Bronx fatherhood program that aims to provide services to improve the lives of young and low-income fathers.
The program was created in order to help underprepared fathers learn how to be dads and also learn from other fathers who have gone through similar experiences. The program helps families in need by donating essential baby items.
On Saturday, in honor of Father's Day, the nonprofit hosted a barbecue for first-time dads and their families in Mill Pond Park.
