Muslim man attacked outside Parkchester mosque
A Muslim man was hospitalized after being attacked outside a mosque Thursday night in Parkchester.
Atique Ashraf says he was on his way to the mosque to pray when he was attacked from behind by a group of men.
"Someone punched me in my back and I flopped down to the ground," Ashraf told News 12. He says the men made comments about him being a Muslim during the attack.
According to community activist Mohammed Mujumder, there have been six similar incidents since December.
"People are shy to go to the camera, shy to go to the news, shy to express themselves that they were beaten up," says Mujumder.
No arrests have been made.
