Orchard Beach fireworks show returns for Fourth of July holiday

The fireworks show at Orchard Beach was held Thursday evening to kick off the Fourth of July weekend.

The event, which was called 'New York Salutes America' Boardwalk Festival, was sponsored by Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. and state Sen. Jeff Klein.

Many Bronx residents enjoyed the empanada eating contest, live salsa music and fireworks show.

The celebration has been going on for about 15 years, and all of the fireworks are set to music by Bronx natives such as Jennifer Lopez and Prince Royce.
