Bobby Valentine officially introduced as Red Sox skipper
Stamford native Bobby Valentine has been formally introduced as the new manager of the Boston Red Sox today. Valentine, 61, has been working as a baseball analyst for ESPN while also holding a public safety position in Stamford. He recently belonged to a committee focused on improving the city's fire department, and was named the city's Citizen of the Year in 2010. Stamford Mayor Mike Pavia says he is excited for Valentine, but adds that it will be difficult to replace his influence."He was more than just a cabinet position member," Pavia says. "He was actually someone who brought additional value to the position. He made people proud, he made people proud to be around him. He made great decisions."Source: Bobby Valentine agrees on deal to manage Red Sox
