Stamford-based Americares preps aid for Caribbean
Stamford-based Americares is preparing to send aid to the Caribbean in the wake of Hurricane Matthew.
The organization says an emergency response team is already on the ground in Haiti and will help coordinate with other relief organizations as soon as the storm has passed.
Americares says it is prepared to send relief workers, medicine and other supplies from the U.S. as soon as they know what's needed.
Karen Green, owner of Titus Cain's Jamaican Cuisine in Bridgeport, says her family has been preparing for strong winds, flooding and mudslides the best they can.
"They've actually bought out all the tin goods from the supermarkets because that's one of the safest things to do...and water and batteries and stuff like that," says Green.
