A handful of students from Bridgeport are on their way to the Brazil to study the Amazon River.
Eight students from Fairchild Wheeler Magnet School and their chaperones boarded their bus to the airport this morning.
The school has partnered with the Stepping Stone Children's Museum in Norwalk to send the class abroad for the next two weeks.
While they are there, News 12 is told the class will study the Amazon River's ecosystem and Brazil's culture.
Teachers say it will be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the students.
The trip is part of a larger exchange student program.
Officials say students from Brazil will be heading to Connecticut next year to study Long Island Sound.
