Co-workers have started an online fundraiser for two Stamford women seriously injured in a crash with a tractor-trailer Saturday evening.

The crash happened on Arch Street, by the I-95 south entrance and exit ramps in Greenwich. Days later, there was still shattered glass and a broken guardrail at the scene.

The two women hurt in the crash were identified as 38-year-old Christina Vomoca and 32-year-old Mai Kobayashi. Co-workers have started a GoFundMe page to help fly their families in from overseas and provide assistance to Vomoca's nearly 2-year-old son.

Friends say both women worked at the Hopscotch Salon in Greenwich and were on their way home to Stamford when the crash happened.

In the meantime, police say they are talking to witnesses to determine if one of the two vehicles ran a red light or if the lights were out of sync when the crash occurred.

Friends say the victims came to the U.S. in their early teens -- Vomoca from Brazil and Kobayashi from Japan. Both remain in an intensive care unit with injuries including head trauma.
