Anonymous donor gives engagement ring to a Bridgeport hospital
Officials say an anonymous donor left her engagement ring and wedding band in a Bridgeport hospital chapel so that the money from it could be used to help cancer patients.
St. Vincent's Medical Center officials say the ring was left in the chapel at the base of a statue called the "Giving Mother."
Officials say the ring and wedding band were left in an envelope and were attached to a note with surgical tape.
The note read, " I would like to donate this ring to cancer patients. I had it appraised. My ring is worth $3,300 dollars." And it's signed "Thanks, Cancer Survivor's Wife."
The hospital says proceeds from the ring may go to the Swim Across the Sound Foundation, which provides support for indigent cancer patients.
